And following the previous post here is a photo of the new mBIT Coaches from the Ashland course. Really amazing how the group integrated together throughout the event. I think we all feel we now have a new extended family!
We finished our first NLP and mBIT Coach training just before the travel lock-down and returned to Europe hugely grateful in so many ways. Both the NLP and the mBIT courses were enthusiastically embraced by everyone and we feel blessed to have worked with such amazing people. Here are our new NLP'ers ... on the next post we'll put our new mBIT Coaches. Can't wait to go back for next year's event! here to edit.
Knowing that you should be happy, or grateful or relaxed or whatever does not make you so.
There are two levels to who we are; the first level that consciously knows what you want to be and the second level that unconsciously causes you to be as you are.
And there lies the challenge ... the relationship between what we hold in our conscious and unconscious minds.
And most people have a hard time in making life changes because it entails connecting with the unconscious mind ... and this is a skill that takes more learning than making a Skype call.
In fact it is the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) that determines much of who we are and much of where we focus attention. When the ANS is in balance we feel great, we can make plans, achieve them and create the future we want. When it is not we suffer, we stop moving forward, we feel trapped and often get ill.
This need to feel all right in order to be all right goes against the grain of western society. Our society has made it very difficult to feel good when bad things are happening around us. People sue for compensation when mistakes are made, beliefs are challenged, or feelings hurt. Cause and effect become confused and emotions get externalised so that our state of mind becomes the fault of someone else ... too much programming as Milton Erickson would say.
And it was F. Scott Fitzgerald, the novelist and author of The Great Gatsby who said:
"The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in the mind at the same time, and still retain the ability to function. One should, for example, be able to see that things are hopeless and yet be determined to make them otherwise."
This is an example of the Buddhist skill of acceptance through Equanimity and I have found that by combining NLP with mBraining helps to uncover the knowledge and resources you consciously have available to you and compare them to the hidden values and beliefs that unconsciously cause you to succeed with some things, and fail at others.
In other words better understanding of the ANS often gives, for the first time, new ways to get into balance and create a unique, and deeply genuine, version of yourself ready for a finer future.
